Environmental pollution is caused mainly by causes derived from human activity, such as the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere or the excessive exploitation of natural resources.

Causes of environmental pollution

The anthropogenic sources that generate the greatest environmental pollution are the following:

•Excessive logging.

•Industrial emissions and discharges to the atmosphere and hydrosphere.

•Extraction, processing and refining of fossil fuels (oil, coal and natural gas).

•Energy production with fossil fuels and other non-renewable sources.

•Excessive use of automobiles and other means of transportation powered by gasoline or diesel.

Indiscriminate use of plastics and other petroleum-derived materials.

•Release of plastics and non-biodegradable objects in natural spaces.
